International Symposium on Flood Defence (ISFD4)

This event’s main theme is flood risk, reliability and vulnerability management.
The objectives of the symposium are to:
- address the various approaches and methods used to manage and assess flood risk, reliability and vulnerability
- share new, innovative developments in flood risk reduction methodologies
- discuss international activities in sustainable floodplain management
- bridge the gaps that arise between the flood research and development community and those flood professionals responsible for responding to and mitigating major flood events
- explore means to reach a sustainable balance between structural and non-structural approaches to floodplain management - discuss flood risk management in large urban areas
- exchange recent experiences related to integrated flood policy development, implementation and management
