Hungary will hold the EU Presidency during the first half of 2011. Water has been selected as one of the priority themes under the Hungarian presidency. The SCENES project and particularly the Hungarian partners RISSAC and BUTE DSEE have suggested to Hungarian officials the possibility to organise a conference around this theme in Hungary. A preparatory committee has been established having representatives from the responsible Hungarian organizers (Academy of Sciences and the Parliamentary Committee for Sustainable Development) and SCENES representatives. The invitations to the Scientific Committee have been sent out in November 2009. Date and location of the Conference has been determined: 23-25 March, 2011 in Budapest.
