This conference provides a stimulating platform to meet scientists, consultants, enterprises and policy makers and to exchange knowledge and policy views in a range of workshops and panel discussions. Exchange of lessons learned can be very helpful to cope with future challenges and develop sustainable and cost-effective approaches for water management and flood protection. This will favour integrated land use development and sustainable management of flat, low lying coastal areas. During the conference papers on such topics will be presented and discussed.
