Wetlands - Environmental signals 2000 (Chapter 14)
[Wetlands - Environmental signals 2000 (Chapter 14)]
Despite global and national recognition of their importance, Europe’s wetlands remain under severe pressure from land use and pollution. Many wetland areas border agricultural land and most are near transport infrastructure. One positive sign is the increase in the population of a number of wintering waterbirds, but this may be partly due to recent mild winters.
