Millennium Development Goals Report
[Millennium Development Goals Report]
The Millennium Development Goals Report, released by the United Nations examines the progress towards the Millennium Development Goals, and emphasizes the link between environmental security and poverty reduction. The Report sets the scene for the 2005 World Summit, to be held from 14 to 16 September at UN Headquarters in New York, where world leaders will gather to discuss progress towards the eight MDGs.
The Report was prepared by 25 UN agencies and international organizations. In addition to linking environmental protection and poverty reduction, the Report also highlights the relationship between environmental protection and better coverage of water supply and sanitation, and between environmental protection and the spread of infectious disease.
