The present work contains a exhibition conducted by the author, in a round table on the sustainable use of the hydric resources on the Water Code of Chile. House of Representatives of the Congress of Chile was carried out by invitation of the Commission of Resources Naturales and Medio.ambiente of the Honorable. The exhibition has been enriched with some contributions and situation analyses generated in Chile by the application of the Code as well as suggestions to improve the systems of management of the water. It is considered that its reading can facilitate the understanding of the complexity that it involves to legislate on the advantage of the water in general. The debate on the Water Code of Chile is good means to focus this complexity of which no country can evade. It must remember that the management of the water is management of conflicts in any place of the region and that each place will have to establish its own rules of game.
