Plan for sustainable use and climate change in the city of Madrid was established as a strategic tool for developing a sustainable energy policy until 2012. The plan seeks coordinated action of all municipal services in order to achieve a significant reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases in the city, through the implementation of conservation measures and increased efficiency of energy consumption and absorption capacity of carbon, energy recovery from urban waste and the development of sustainable mobility The Madrid City Council, recognizing the seriousness of the environmental and economic challenges posed by the energy crisis and climate change, has developed an ambitious plan for the Sustainable Use of Energy and Climate Change Prevention of the City of Madrid as a strategic tool for development of a sustainable policy on energy through 2012.
